  • What information does the Audi window sticker detail?

  • What information does the Audi window sticker not detail?

How do I get the original window sticker (Monroney Label) for my Audi?

Use the following free tool to reproduce an original window sticker for your Audi vehicle. Your copy of the original Monroney Label Window Sticker will be 100% accurate and provides you with the trim, packages, and/or options your car has.

To get started, all you need is your VIN and a phone number to receive a link to your window sticker PDF file.

What you’ll need to get the window sticker

The easiest way to obtain a window sticker is with your VIN (vehicle identification number). A VIN is composed of 17 characters (numbers and capital letters). It is an identifying code, unique to your vehicle, that can be used to track manufacturer recalls, vehicle records, thefts, etc.

Where can I find my Audi VIN?

The VIN for your Audi can typically be found in two places:

  1. On the driver’s side doorjamb: Can be identified by a silver label with the manufacturer date and VIN

  2. The dashboard of the driver’s side where it meets the windshield meets.

Other places you can find the VIN is on vehicle registration documents, insurance cards, and sometimes vehicle service invoices.

What’s the difference between a VIN decoder, Monroney Label, and Window Sticker?

A VIN decoder allows you to verify a vehicle’s history using the vehicle identification number. Decoding a VIN will provide you with the following details:

  • Model year, location of the manufacturer, and production number

  • Odometer reading

  • Number of vehicle owners over time

  • Current state or last state to title the vehicle

  • Track recalls, warranties, registration, thefts, and insurance coverage

A Monroney Label aka Window Sticker is a label or decal required in the United States that is displayed on the car window of a new vehicle to disclose its equipment and pricing information, including:

  • VIN

  • Engine type

  • EPA fuel economy

  • Government safety ratings

  • Warranty information

  • Available standard options and features

  • Additional manufacturer options and pricing

  • Total vehicle price including all features

An Audi window sticker provides both standard options, as well as additional manufacturer options and price information. Find a comprehensive breakdown of the sticker below.

  • Technical specifications for various vehicle features

The middle column describes optional features and equipment available on the vehicle:

What are some key details to know about how Audi describes packages and options?

Choosing the trim level (a version of vehicle model equipped with a fixed combination of features) and selecting additional options and packages is arguably one of the most exciting steps in the car-buying process -- that is if you are familiar with the auto industry lingo. Audi uses a seemingly consistent naming scheme for their trims and packages. Follow along to get briefed on your options when purchasing your luxury car from Audi.

While all vehicles are not available in all trim levels, most of Audi’s vehicles can be tailored to one of the three trim levels:

  1. Premium

    • Focuses on affordability. Tends to leave out some popular standard equipment with other features only available as extra options

  2. Premium Plus

    • A compromise between affordable and luxury. Tends to include some of the paid options from the premium level as standard equipment and offers upgrade options for advanced features

  3. Prestige

    • There are no compromises at this level. There are additional options available, but at this level, you will have a fully loaded luxury vehicle

The following example uses the A3, the most affordable Audi, to differentiate the different package levels.

  • A3 Premium:

    • Heated seats and a navigation system are included at this level

  • A3 Premium Plus:

    • Heated seats and the navigation system are standard at the premium plus level

    • It comes stock with 17” alloy wheels with an option to upgrade to 18” alloy wheels

  • A3 Prestige:

    • The navigation system and largest wheels available come included in the price. As does Audi’s advanced keyless start and entry system

    • Upgrades are still available, such as the sport package.

Once you start to consider additional options, things can quickly get confusing. You can think of using options as a way to tailor your vehicle exactly to your specific needs. Audi offers individual options, such as Apple Carplay and Google Android Auto, or Audi Drive Select. To simplify identifying which options you want to install on your vehicle, Audi typically groups the individual options to a category that best describes the type of option. The categories and some examples of options available are :

  • Infotainment/Technology

    • Apple Carplay and Google Android Auto

    • Sirius XM Radio

  • Driver Assistance/Innovation

    • Rain/light sensor for automatic windshield wipers and headlights

    • Audi advanced keyless start/stop

  • Exterior

    • High-gloss exterior trim

    • S line exterior appearance

  • Interior

    • Three-zone automatic climate control

    • Power sunroof

  • Safety

    • Safety belt reminder for driver and front passenger

    • Rearview camera

  • Packages (Not to be confused with the trim packages)

    • Convenience package

    • Navigation package

    • Cold weather package

Some options do not fit into a single category and thus are placed into the category, Standalone options. This category can include:

  • Sport suspension

  • Ventilated front sport seats

Reference Audi’s website to look at the options and packages for the Audi A4.

What does the window sticker not provide?

Window stickers are most accurate when the vehicle is “new”. The sticker will not reflect any modifications installed by the dealer or owner -- nor will it detail any replacement parts.

Additionally, the sticker does not describe the vehicle’s current condition or history. To obtain such information, we recommend services such as Carfax, Autocheck, and having an inspection performed by a certified professional.

Finally, the MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price) will not reflect the vehicle’s current value due to natural wear and depreciation. Although the window sticker shows that this Audi had an original MSRP of $173,815 when new, the vehicle may sell for less when taking into consideration negotiations and discounts.

When does this Free Audi Window Sticker Tool or VIN decoder not work?

The free Monroney label tool currently supports vehicles which are 2013 Model Year and newer. In addition to this, there are other limitations you may encounter using the sticker tool:

  • The VIN is not 17 characters long (applies to vehicles model year 1981 and older)

  • The VIN cannot be validated by certified techniques:

    • Checksum: The 9th digit of the VIN number (limited to numbers 0-9 or the letter X) of US and Canadian vehicles is used in an algorithm to determine its validity

    • Illegal character check: VINs can include any alphanumeric character minus the letters I, O, and Q

  • Your vehicle is too new and has not been updated in the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) database
