What does the window sticker not provide?
Window stickers don't provide information on modifications applied to the vehicle, or repairs/replacement of components made by the dealership or other current/previous owners. The sticker only details the standard equipment and options original to the vehicle.
Regardless of where a vehicle is purchased from, whether that's a dealership, a private party -- even if it's a certified used car, the Monroney label does not provide a record of the current condition or history of a vehicle. Those details can be found by having a certified professional inspect the vehicle, or using services such as Carfax, Autocheck.
Finally, since the window sticker does not take into account natural wear and depreciation, the MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price) is not a good indication of the vehicle’s current value and you may find a car sells for less when considering negotiations and discounts.
When does this Free Volvo Window Sticker Tool or VIN decoder not work?
The WithCluth Monroney label tool generates stickers only for vehicles that are 2013 Model Year and newer. Though, there may be other limitations that prevent you from using the sticker tool:
The VIN is not 17 characters long (applies to vehicles model year 1981 and older)
The VIN cannot be verified by certified techniques:
Checksum: The 9th digit of the VIN (limited to numbers 0-9 or the letter X) of US and Canadian vehicles is used in an algorithm to determine its validity
Illegal character check: Except letters, I, O, and Q, a VIN can include any alphanumeric character
Your vehicle is too new and has not been add to the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) database
